Discipleship

Following Jesus is a lifelong journey, and none of us is meant to walk it alone. At Temple Terrace UMC, discipleship is about growing in faith together through study, prayer, service, and honest conversation. Whether you are just beginning to ask questions or have been walking with Christ for decades, there is a place for you here. Our groups and studies meet you where you are and help you take the next step.

  • Sojourners class

Sunday mornings at 9:15am in Room 33

Since its start about five years ago, the Sorjouners Class has been reading the Bible together and studying it chapter by chapter, verse by verse. Each week, class members take turns reading and sharing their thoughts, and then we talk it through together. Coffee and fellowship are part of the morning, and you can join by Zoom if you can’t be there in person. Whether you’ve studied Scripture for years or are just getting started, you’re welcome here.

  • Saturday Morning Class

First and third Saturday of each month from10:30 AM to 12:30 PM in Room 33

Join us as we explore biblical topics that apply to everyday life, with an eye toward growing and developing in our faith. Expect good fellowship, refreshments, and plenty of fun along the way. Everyone is welcome.

  • Sunday Morning class

Sundays from 11:40 AM to 12:30 PM in Room 33

Join us for an open group that builds on the morning’s message. Together we ask, “What is God’s message for you today?” Through interactive conversation, we reflect on what we heard, how it speaks to our faith journey, and how we can bless someone’s life this week. We’re a community of believers with one purpose: to be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. Come as you are, and bring a friend.

  • HEnri Nouwen Class with PAstor Anna-Brook

Tuesdays on Zoom at 6pm or Wednesdays in the Children's Room at 10:30am

What does it mean to be a peacemaker in a world that seems anything but peaceful? Over six weeks, we’ll read and reflect on Henri Nouwen’s The Road to Peace, a collection of writings on peace, nonviolence, and the quiet work of building a “house of peace” within ourselves and our communities. Each week we’ll read a section together, look at the Scripture that shapes it, and talk about how Nouwen’s words speak to our own lives. No prior experience with Nouwen is needed, and everyone is welcome.

  • Grief Share

    Wednesdays 7:00-8:30pm

GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone.

It may be hard for you to feel optimistic about the future right now. If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend, you’ve probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel.

This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you’ve never faced before.

“Going to GriefShare feels like having warm arms wrapped around you when you’re shivering.”

Please reach out to Gina Randolph at qgina635@gmail.com if you are interested in joining GriefShare.
